A Swim Club Summer

Do you want to dance?

The season of music, art, wellness and pool parties is upon Ace Hotel & Swim Club Athens. And in true and proper worship of the burning ball in the sky, the Swim Club’s Summer Series welcomes a roster of international and local DJ talent, wellness practitioners and artist-led workshops — all open to hotel guests and day visitors. Backdropped by our sun-soaked pool and lounge area replete with cabanas, daybeds and loungers, the Summer Series beckons all to enjoy the enchanting allure of the Athens Riviera. Buy the officially unofficial tee here. It’s made from 100 percent cotton in the UK by our Summer Series partners Test Pressing and ACMH.

Anchoring our programming is Odyssey. A day-long celebration of renegade creativity, Odyssey occurs on the third Wednesday of each month. The whole seaside shebang debuted 18 June with Ross From Friends presents Bubble Love, then runs monthly through September delivering Damian Lazarus, Horse Meat Disco and Midland to the decks.

Ever astral projected? London-based She’s Lost Control curates Odyssey’s new age wellness experiences from Tree Carr, Jade Shaw and Valentina Olper, while art workshops round out the lineup.

Plisskën, our partners in Odyssey, will also relocate their Sunday afternoon rave EDEN to ours for the season. The series is a cultural force in the Greek clubbing landscape, fueling its committed dance floor with top-tier talent. Hunee, Avalon Emerson and Lindstrom will alight on Ace Athens for EDEN on the last Sunday of each summer month.

Should your dancing boots be hungry for more dance floor, the long-running New York City party FIXED brings JDH, beewack and special guests by for an evening party and night swim on Friday July 18. And then there’s Saturdays, which will be held down by residencies all season. Stegi.Radio delivers their rolodex of DJs weekly to the Swim Club, before the party moves to the Lobby. Curtain call is courtesy of Sunday Service, perching DJs poolside Sundays to close out the weekend.

Greek Visions Finds Meaning in Incoherence

“It’s an incoherent archive of contemporary Greek culture,” says Greek Visions founder Takis Zontiros. What began as an Instagram account cataloguing movements and moments in Greece’s past and recent present — 1970s to 2010s — grew long, curious arms. Greek Visions resembles a virtual museum preserving the minute and monumental of the country’s cultural identity, its reach now spanning a popular Instagram account, regular merch drops and a Substack. Newly notched in the brand’s résumé — curator of the in-room vinyl at Ace Hotel & Swim Club Athens (hear a preview here) and collaborator on an apparel collection that revives the decadence of Greek discotheques.

Sister Act

Shane Thomas and Saturn Risin9 are luminous. Tucked into an Ace Suite in DTLA at magic hour, buzzing with a magnetic, conspiratorial energy — plus cunning wit cut with vulnerability — it’s clear the two multi-faceted creators have a direct aux cord to the source — both together and individually. In advance of Blush!’s sure-to-be sickening soirée over Pride weekend at Ace Hotel Palm Springs, Shane and Saturn join us in dialogue.

Ballroom: 5 Things with Function

Launched last year, FUNCTION is a Toronto-based platform for everything Ballroom: culture, stories, events and education. Recently, they brought Ballroom royalty through our doors for our collaborative “Class of ’23” sessions, an ongoing series centering sexual health, community and movement. We gathered monthly to talk about history, sex ed and the courageous creative expression of voguing, as led by four of Ballroom's most influential figures. Tears, cheers, breakthrough moments on the floor — the effects of FUNCTION remind us how alive and how staggeringly inextricable sweetness and pain can feel. Here, FUNCTION lays down five pillars of Ballroom.
