Can you be in love with a place? Japan has been writ in our hearts since we started and we’re not the only ones. Kyoto has been a muse and lodestar to David Bowie, Charlotte Periand, The Talking Heads and poet Gary Snyder. It’s a place that exalts the simple pleasures and respect for traditions and each other. We’re situated just a stone’s throw from contemporary cultural treasures like the Nishiki Market, the Museum of Kyoto and Kyoto Art Center, and just steps away from Kamesuehiro, the iconic 200-year old confectionary.
Ace Hotel Kyoto makes its home in a part new build and part former home to a beloved telephone company. Masterfully dovetailed by the legendary architect Kengo Kuma, the building is a place in honest dialogue with the city’s past and future legends. We’re hanging the art, firing up coffee machines and rolling out the tatami mats. Ace Hotel Kyoto opens this April, but you can book a room now.

TV on the Radio Talk Brooklyn
TV on the Radio threw our dream festival — food, art, no overlapping sets and Hannibal Buress as emcee. There Goes The Neighborhood saw the band honor the borough that bore them with an all-Black lineup featuring majority female performers including Sudan Archives, Moor Mother and Spelling. Beneath Brooklyn’s K Bridge, the celebration of community, music and culture coalesced around fierce and glorious joy last Saturday. The eve before, the band led the Lobby at Ace Brooklyn into the weekend with an iridescent set from behind the decks.

Paris’ Quixotic Projects Arrives in Athens
Parisian hospitality collective Quixotic Projects, the brains behind Candelaria and Le Mary Celeste, landed at Ace Hotel & Swim Club Athens this summer. Led by Carina Soto Velasquez and Josh Fontaine — alongside their head of mixology Chris McNulty — Quixotic brought their signature creativity to the drinks at Sebastian and the Lobby Bar.
