This evening, we welcome LA-based DJ Tsugu Itagaki, a key figure in bridging Japanese artists with international listeners. Together with our resident DJ Norio, he’ll take you on a journey through the exotic and cosmopolitan sounds of City Pop, blending its rich melodies with diverse global influences.

熊本県出身。2000年、アメリカン・ソウル、ジャズ、ヒップホップをベースにDJ活動を開始。2007年、アメリカン・ソウル、ジャズ、ヒップホップへの情熱が高じてロサンゼルスに移住。
日本のシティ・ポップが再評価される過程を目の当たりにし、YouTubeなどのプラットフォームの普及によって、日本の名曲が世界中に広がる中で、欧米のリスナーに日本の音楽を届けることに尽力している。
また、ドジャース・スタジアム、コーチェラ、その他有名なフェスティバルに出演。LAでは、The Let’s Go DiscoやPart Time Loverといった有名スポットでDJを務めることも多い。ライブに加え、オンラインとポップアップのレコードショップ、We Share Recordsを通じて、日本の音楽を世界中のリスナーに広めている。

Hailing from Kumamoto, Japan, Tsugu Itagaki began his DJ career in 2000, drawing inspiration from American genres like Soul, Jazz, and Hip-Hop. His passion for these sounds brought him to Los Angeles in 2007, where he broadened his musical horizons and honed his craft.
As a native Japanese artist, Tsugu has observed the recent surge in popularity of Japanese City Pop, a genre he grew up with. Thanks to platforms like YouTube, these classic Japanese tunes have reached a global audience, and Tsugu is now on a mission to connect Japanese artists with Western listeners.
Tsugu’s performances have graced prestigious stages such as Dodgers Stadium, Coachella, and various renowned festivals. In Los Angeles, he regularly DJs at popular venues like The Let’s Go Disco and Part Time Lover. Beyond his live shows, Tsugu is dedicated to sharing Japanese music with international audiences through his online and pop-up record shop, We Share Records.
