Tiffany Bouelle × Ace Hotel Kyoto Lobby Live Painting

Paris-based painter and multidisciplinary artist Tiffany Bouelle will present a live painting performance in the lobby of Ace Hotel Kyoto.
Known for her minimalist compositions and vibrant use of color, Bouelle’s work often explores themes of femininity, nature, and everyday life. Drawing inspiration from her stay in Kyoto, she will create a one-of-a-kind piece in real time, transforming the hotel lobby into an open studio where guests can witness the creative process unfold before their eyes.

フランス・パリを拠点に活動するペインター／マルチアーティスト Tiffany Bouelle（ティファニー・ブエル） が、Ace Hotel Kyotoのロビーでライブペイントパフォーマンスを披露します。
女性や自然、日常の断片を抽象的に描き出す彼女の作品は、ミニマルな構成と鮮やかな色彩感覚で知られています。今回のイベントでは、滞在中に感じた京都の空気や文化からインスピレーションを得て、その瞬間にしか生まれない新しい作品をライブで制作。ホテルのロビーがキャンバスとなり、訪れる人々が創作の過程を間近で体験できる特別なひとときとなります。

Tiffany Bouelle

An artist with roots in both France and Japan, Tiffany Bouelle is based in Paris. After an early focus on abstract expression, her practice now explores plants, animals, and dreamlike worlds. The gestures nurtured each summer under the guidance of her grandfather, a calligrapher, are deeply ingrained in her painting, where she reinterprets tradition through a contemporary and industrial lens.

A synesthete, Bouelle perceives sounds as shapes and colors, translating them directly onto the canvas. In 2025, the passing of her French grandmother from Alzheimer’s disease prompted her to reflect more deeply on themes of time, memory, and the impact of modern consumption. In her series We don’t remember our lives before the age of four, phantoms of extinct insects from her childhood in Saga and mountains of dust-covered cardboard emerge. Her vivid and fiery palette evokes Aubusson tapestries and Italian religious art.

She is currently pursuing research on natural disasters and climate change in Japan since 2010. Bouelle first drew attention in 2018 through a collaboration with Maison Moynat (LVMH), followed by participation in Asia Now the next year. In 2020, she took part in group exhibitions at the Monnaie de Paris and the Musée des Arts Décoratifs. In 2025, she designed the window installations for Hermès’ largest flagship store, Sèvres-Babylone in Paris.

As of 2025, her work is being exhibited in France, the United Kingdom, Pakistan, Hong Kong, and Japan.

フランスと日本にルーツを持ち、パリを拠点に活動するアーティスト。初期の抽象表現を経て、現在は植物や動物、そして夢幻的な世界を探求している。毎年夏に書家であった祖父のもとで育まれた所作は、彼女の絵画に深く刻まれ、伝統を現代的かつ工業的な手法で再解釈している。共感覚を持つ彼女は、音に形と色を知覚し、それをキャンバスへと映し出す。2025 年、アルツハイマー病でフランス人の祖母を亡くしたことを契機に、時間と記憶、さらに現代の消費の影響について思索を深める。シリーズ《We don’ t remember our lives before the age of four》では、幼少期を過ごした佐賀で彼女を取り巻いていた絶滅した昆虫の幻影や、埃をまとった段ボールの山々が現れる。その色彩は燃え立つように鮮烈で、フランス オーブッソンのタペストリーやイタリア宗教美術を想起させる。現在は2010年以降に日本を襲った自然災害と気候変動に関するリサーチを進めている。2018 年、メゾン・モワナ（LVMH）とのコラボレーションで注目を集め、翌年には Asia Now に出展。2020年にはパリ造幣局や工芸博物館でのグループ展に参加。2025 年にはエルメスの店舗として最大規模であるパリセーブルバビロン店のウィンドウディスプレイの空間構成を手掛けた。ブエルの作品は、2025 年現在フランス、イギリス、パキスタン、香港、日本で発表されている。
